What Is the Age Calculator?
How old am I? How old are you? How old would your favorite writer or movie star be today?
The age calculator shows the time period between a date of birth (start date) and an end date (automatically set to today) in different units of time:
- Age: Shown in whole years, months, and days
- Age in Years: Your precise age in years (with decimals)
- Age in Months: Total number of months since birth (with decimals)
- Age in Weeks: Your age converted to weeks (with decimals)
- Age in Days: Answers "How many days have I been alive?"
- Age in Hours: Answers "How many hours old am I?"
- Age in Minutes: Answers "How old am I in minutes?"
- Age in Seconds: Answers "How many seconds have I lived?"
- Days Until Birthday: Remaining days until your next birthday
You can calculate the number of weekdays or other days of the week between your two dates with our date calculator.

How to Calculate Age Manually
To determine a person's age accurately without a calculator, you need the birth date and current date. These steps work for age in most Western countries:
- Note today's date (day, month, year).
- Note the date of birth (day, month, year).
- Subtract the birth year from the current year.
- If the current month is before the birth month, or if it's the same month but the current day is before the birth date, subtract 1 from the result.
- The result is the age in years.
Some cultures calculate age differently. For example, some Asian countries traditionally consider a baby to be 1 year old at birth, not 0 years old. Leap years can also affect calculations, so our age calculator is the best way to get a precise answer.
